Operating Instructions - iPhone
Because the iPhone does not allow SMS messages to be sent directly from applications, SMS texts are purchased from a third party. Your KamAlert comes with 6 free SMS messages to get you started. When these have been used up, SMS texts can be purchased at a small charge from this link.
Remember, you can choose to limit the number of SMS texts to be sent choosing less contacts to whom you send SMS texts.
Instructions - Surveillance mode
Open KamAlert, swipe the opening page to reach the Home page then touch the Surveillance button.
Place the iPhone camera lens facing the area you want to monitor
When calibrated (could take up to 20 seconds), you will hear a voice message and for the next 30 seconds the system will be inactive to give you time to leave the room. After this time the system becomes fully activated and will detect any movement in front of the camera.
If the camera cannot set itself (through lack of light or movement) you will hear a voice narrative explaining this. In this case, you must try again with more light in the area selected.
To deactivate the Alarm enter your PIN CODE at any time or simply press the iPhone Home Button.
General advice:
It is recommended that the phone charger be used at all times in Surveillance mode - the normal iPhone dock is useful to help position the camera. If no iPhone dock is available, you can place the iPhone on its side to ease positioning the camera.
Switch off the sound button (top left-hand side of your iPhone) to silence the shutter noise.
Keep animals out of the room to avoid triggering a false alarm.
Use the iPhone camera in areas not subject to changing light from doors opening or flickering light entering from windows.
Place the iPhone where no one will accidentally walk or move in front of the camera. Should this happen, the alarm can be cancelled by entering your PIN on the screen or simply pressing the iPhone Home Button.
Allow sufficient light for the camera to function, for example a 25 or 40-Watt bulb.
It is recommended that all members of the family be given the PIN number or told how the exit the application (iPhone Home button).
Instructions - Medical Emergency & Personal Danger modes
Open KamAlert, swipe the opening page to reach the Home page and touch either the “Medical Emergency” or the “Personal Danger” buttons.
This will change the screen to either of two “Help Button” screens. Touch the Red Button to sound the Siren (if set ON) and send the SMS texts and emails to your chosen contacts and/or authorities.
To deactivate the Alarm enter your PIN CODE at any time or simply press the iPhone Home Button.
General advice:
If you are in a potentially dangerous situation, you can leave KamAlert turned on with the Help Button screen ready for instant activation!
KamAlert is not a game, and should only be used in real emergency situations.
