GENERAL INFORMATION
INTERNET SETUP
An Internet connection is necessary to benefit from the full range of features of KamAlert. Most iPhones are configured for the Internet for your use when you buy them. If not, your service provider can set this up for you.
If the Internet configuration is not set up, then the SMS and email feature cannot be used and only outgoing silent calls can be made.
SETTINGS
The KamAlert setup is made by touching the “i” on the opening page or by touching “Settings” on the Home page (after swiping the opening page).
There are three groups of settings available:
a) Surveillance
b) Emergency
c) Personal information

a) Surveillance mode Settings
In the Surveillance mode settings you can select the following:
Contact SMS numbers & emails are for family, friends, and/or authorities. Up to three different SMS numbers and email addresses can be chosen.
A telephone number can be entered in the third contact field which, when set ON, will make a voice call after the SMS texts and emails have been sent. However, if activated, there will be no prerecorded message, and the contact will only hear the sounds your iPhone picks up real-time. Only one voice-call can be made per emergency.

Delay setting: In order to have time to cancel the alarm (in case of a false alarm or to simply deactivate the alarm in the morning) the “DELAY” can be set at between 15 seconds and 3 minutes. This delay starts as soon as any movement has been detected, but before the SMS texts and emails have been sent.
System Test Audio & Siren settings:These can be set to ON or OFF. The System Test Audio, if ON, provides a voice narrative after movement has been detected. The Siren, if ON, will sound after the SMS texts and emails have been sent.

Notes on Surveillance Mode
Telephone numbers should always be in the international format with "00" or "+" before the country code followed by the telephone number for mobile phones or the area code and telephone number for land lines. In some countries, the 0 before the area code must be omitted. For example in the UK, the number 0123-987-6543 would be entered as +441239876543.
If you have switched the System Test Audio OFF in the Settings, then in order to avoid false alarms, you must remember you have the period of the “Delay” time after the alarm activation (say by you entering the room) in order to cancel the Alarm.
Standard texts will be sent by SMS and email. An example of the email text is below using a fictitious name and telephone number:
"John Doe has sent this Intruder Alarm message from KamAlert and is in need of help. Please call John’s phone +123 4567890 to make sure John is safe. If necessary, please contact the relevant authorities. John’s address is 1234, Safety Street, Hawkstown, California, USA."
An example of the SMS message:
"John Doe may have an intruder. Please check with John at +123 4567890, and contact the authorities if necessary"
False Alarm Cancellation:
If the alarm has been set off accidentally, or you are in the vicinity and want to turn the alarm system off, you will have the period of the”Delay” time in which to do this. To cancel the alarm, enter your PIN number or simply press the iPhone Home Button.
b) Medical Emergency and Personal Danger mode Settings
Normally, one of the contacts in the Medical Emergency mode will be assigned to the relevant authority (e.g. Ambulance Service) and one of the contacts in the Personal Danger mode will be assigned to the Police. However, this is a user preference option and other contacts may be used instead.
Contact SMS/numbers & emails are for family, friends, and/or authorities. Up to four different SMS numbers and email addresses can be chosen (normally two for friends and family, and one each for Medical Services and Police authorities).
Also, voice-call phone numbers can be added in the third and fourth input boxes – normally used for authorities such as the Medical Services and Police authorities. However, if activated, there will be no prerecorded message, and the contact will only hear your voice or whatever other sounds your phone picks up real-time. Only one voice-call can be made per emergency.

The Siren, which will sound when either the Medical or Panic buttons are activated, can be selected ON or OFF.

Notes on Medical Emergency and Panic Alarm Modes
Telephone numbers should always be in the international format with "00" or "+" before the country code followed by the telephone number for mobile phones or the area code and telephone number for land lines. In some countries, the 0 before the area code must be omitted. For example in the UK, the number 0123-987-6543 would be entered as +441239876543.
Standard texts will be sent by SMS and email. An example of the email text is below using a fictitious name and telephone number:
"John Doe has sent this Medical Alert message from KamAlert and is in need of help. Please call John’s phone +123 4567890 to make sure John is safe. If necessary, please contact Emergency Medical Services. John’s location is: (ADDRESS)."
Examples of the SMS messages:
"John Doe has a medical emergency close to: (ADDRESS). Please call John at +123 4567890 to check.
"John Doe is in personal danger close to: (ADDRESS). Please call John at +123 4567890 to check.
Note that there are some areas of the world not covered by the mapping website.

c) Personal Information
Personal Data: This is the data to be used in the SMS and email messages in both Surveillance and Medical/Personal Danger modes. Remember to use the international dialing prefixes (00 or + and country code) for your phone number.
Pin code: This is a four number code to be used to deactivate the alarms in both Surveillance and Medical/Personal Danger modes. This is purely an obstacle to third parties deactivating KamAlert. In fact, KamAlert can also be exited by simply pressing the iPhone "Home" button.
