Why are there SMS and Email inputs for the Police and Ambulance services?

In some countries there are facilities to send SMS/email messages to the relevant authorities. In your country you can enquire with those authorities if they can receive either emails or SMS texts. Remember that you can use the Police and Ambulance fields for a third personal contact if you wish.

Why is the location sent through the Emergency modes sometimes not precise?

  1. If the mobile phone is inside a building when the emergency buttons are activated, then the location shown will be the last outdoor location recorded. This is because most mobile phones cannot use the GPS feature indoors.
  2. There is always some small degree of error in GPS locations.

If I input a telephone number in Surveillance or Emergency modes in the Police/Medical fields, will a voice message be sent?

There is no prerecorded voice message, and when your phone connects to the receiving telephone number, it will act as a normal telephone call. The receiving party will hear whatever the Phone picks up through its microphone.
